Late May 85 moves and Gen
At the time this was a very disappointing late Spring bash, as there was
an awful lot of EH power, even on relief trains which still operated back then.
However a few “roarers” were raked in on the classic S19 Crewe overnight move,
plus some 20’s on low mileage moves but the top working coming late on the last
day……

the “rancid can” was done because of gen of a failure in the Oxford area of
the Brighton-Manchester. I bailed at Int’l, but the hordes went to Cov to cover
the failure.
Unfortunately for all, control sent the booked engine to work the train from
New St light engine to Cov. So as I enjoyed 85018 home, lovely 86258 was
replacing the 58 at Cov!!!!
