Cable theft nr Watford Jn caused evening peak problems on 141211

As you all know there is a big problem here and church roofs are especially vulnerable.  Please sign the petition below, it only takes 5 minutes but it will be well worth it especially if this helps prevent metal thefts from church roofs, BT telephone lines, manhole covers , war memorials, railway overhead lines etc…

One of the reasons this occurs is that the thieves can take the metal to the less scrupulous metal traders and get cash.  There is a e-petition you can sign to change the law so that all scrap metal transactions have to be by cheque or direct bank payment.  This would leave an audit trail and be a significant component in the reduction in lead and other metal thefts.    The petition needs 100,000 signatures to gain parliamentary time.

Please can you sign it and pass this on to everybody you know.    The address is:   http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/406
