The Limestone Cowboy Railtour August 20th 2011
Imagine the scene, you have just had an exhilarating high speed run from Crewe to Rugby with Fast line running from Stafford and no damn “Pendos” have overtaken you. At Rugby there is a faint but distinct “roar” from our power’s blowers, before, with awesome acceleration, old WCML haunts like outpacing the M1 traffic at “the Gap” and the Weedon lurch before arrival at the Keynes. After the inevitable check to allow a few pendos to pass here, we have a steady run South on the ever congested “2 track railway” that the WCML is today on Saturday evenings, Watford PSB deliver by looping us onto the immensely rare Kings Langley up goods loop before a Watford bail. No it wasn’t 85016 on an up Scotch, but 92016 returning us home in some style on the UK Railtours “Limestone Cowboy tour”.
